Tips
As a rule, these tips hit on some of the key ways to move your health and wellbeing to the place you want it to be.
Find an exercise you like
Like anything in life, if you enjoy it, it's not a chore. Try different types of exercise and when you find the ones you like, stick with them. Walking, running, pilates, yoga, boxercise, interval training - there are so many ways you can go. Mix it up. Have fun.
Be energy-wise
If you don't have the energy to exercise, make sure you think about sleeping right. After two weeks of sleeping and eating better, you should have the energy to exercise. Having said that, you may find that getting in a 15-30 minute walk each day may help you sleep better. So they can go hand in hand.
Think smarter
There's a lot of noise in our heads a lot of the time. Worry, judgement, criticism - when you feel a negative emotion taking hold, stop and redirect it towards the good things in your life. Everyone has them.
Love your wholegrains
Wholegrain foods are foods where the grain still contains its outer layers, the bran and germ, as well as the endosperm, as opposed to grains that have been refined to only retain the endosperm. Simply put, a wholegrain is exactly what it sounds like, the wholegrain in its natural state with nothing taken out of it.
The advantage of eating the whole grain is that you get the nutritional benefits from each of the grain's outer layers that contain fibre, vitamins and minerals that you won't get from eating refined grain foods.
The good news is one of the world's most popular snacks is a wholegrain - popcorn! So are oats, brown rice, wholegrain breads and breakfast cereals and bulgur.
Make a fruit rainbow on your plate
Creating a rainbow on your plate through a variety of fruits, such as oranges, apples, grapes and blueberries, can help optimise and ensure your diet has a great blend of nutrients. The more colours, the better! Not only will you receive the benefits of their nutrients, vitamins and minerals, but also the naturally occurring plant antioxidants that can help support your overall health and wellbeing.
Keep your head up
When you're working or studying try to remember to stop and think about where your head is. Quite often while we're thinking or looking at something we stretch our necks forward. This means we have to tilt your head up to see, which can compress the nerves and muscles at the base of the skull and cause headaches. Try to regularly check your head and neck posture. Make sure you get up and move away from your desk regularly.
