ABOUT ME
I have been involved in the fitness industry for almost 20 years. Initially a long-distance runner, I became a certified aerobics trainer in 1991. In 1996 I gained an Exercise Specialist diploma from the Cooper Institute in Texas, and worked as a personal trainer at Gurney’s Inn Spa in Montauk, New York.
MY BUSINESS
In 1997, my husband Peter and I opened BodyTech in Mt Eden, Auckland. We were the first fitness centre in New Zealand to provide unsurpassed customer service, fully personalized training, 30-minute supervised training workouts, systemised member counseling and the most high-tech equipment on the market. This combination, along with warm and friendly staff quickly elevated BodyTech to a become leader in the health and fitness industry. Today, we have four BodyTech gyms across Auckland. A PASSION FOR HEALTHY LIVING & HELPING OTHERS
Since 2005, I have been providing daily wellness, fitness and health tips on Coast. In tandem to my fitness career, I have modeled overseas and in New Zealand since the age of 17. My early years as a photographic/catwalk model took me down the road of ‘unhealthy choices’. But more importantly, it was a journey which ultimately led me to an unwavering commitment of being truly healthy in all areas of my life; physically, emotionally and spiritually. One of my passions today is helping teenage girls/women and men with self-esteem issues and eating disorders by helping them understand the importance of eating balanced nutritious meals, strength training and self-acceptance so they can reach their full potential. My charity work is with "A Girl Called Hope", formerly Mercy Ministries, which helps girls with eating disorders, self-harm, etc. I run 12 to 14 week courses at BodyTech for members of "A Girl Called Hope" covering health, wellness and healthy body image topics.
I also believe that as parents ‘we can have it all’ - but not always at the same time without sacrificing our physical/mental health, family or marriage. I am grateful for my family, my husband’s unwavering support and my spiritual relationship.
